Stelex's SmartMove service is a time-tested system for migrating legacy applications to modern environments. We start by creating a custom translator/compiler tool to automatically convert legacy code into a modern language and replace the database layer with a standard RDBMS interface. This tool is then used to automatically convert 80%-85% of the code (the rest is converted manually as part of the service). The end result is the functionality of the legacy system migrated onto a modern, scalable, and easily supportable platform. In general, the SmartMove service reduces the cost of a rewrite by 50% to 70% and allows the legacy system to be migrated gradually (one module at a time) with minimal impact on users.
